Rear Admiral Philip Dur (Ret.)


Term: March 24, 2016 – June 30, 2021

Rear Admiral Philip Dur served in the United States Navy for 30 years where he developed experience in naval operations, defense strategy and program management. During his tenure with the Navy, Admiral Dur received numerous awards and decorations, including the Defense Distinguished Service Medal, the Navy Distinguished Service Medal, the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, the Combat Action Ribbon and the Ordre National du Merite from the French government in the grade of Commander. Admiral Dur also served as corporate vice president of Northrop Grumman Corporation.

Admiral Dur holds a master’s degree in Soviet East European studies from the University of Notre Dame and a master’s degree in public administration from Harvard University. He also received his doctorate in political economy and government from Harvard.

Admiral Dur is a member of the U. S. Naval Institute, the Council on Foreign Relations, and the French Academie de Marine. He also served on the Board of Directors for Kennametal Corporation.
