About
Dr. Kanwal Gagneja is an assistant professor in the department of computer science, innovation, and technology at Florida Polytechnic University. She brings 20 years of experience in cybersecurity, digital forensics, and computer networks to her position.

Currently, Gagneja being PI, is directing the development of digital forensics and cybersecurity coursework through a grant received from the Florida Center for Cybersecurity. She has two patents pending and one copyright approved.

As a graduate student at North Dakota State University (NDSU) she was a university medalist based on merit. She served as global outreach ambassador for NDSU, and won many grant awards over the years. She has published more than 32 research papers and is collaborating with researchers all over the world.

Gagneja is inspired to research in cybersecurity in parts because of the growing importance of protecting computer, networks, and data. She is active in community service, including as a panelist for WICT-Women in Cable Telecommunications in 2016. She also served as a panelist in 2014 at the Lady Ada Lovelace convention, an international celebration day of the achievements of women in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM).

She is also involved in the research and development of autonomous vehicles at SunTrax, a joint venture between the Florida Department of Transportation and the university to test new technology of autonomous vehicles.
