About

As an assistant general counsel at Florida Poly, Alex Landback is responsible for providing legal advice and guidance to the areas of Human Resources, Technology Services, University Relations, and the University Police Department. He provides support to the University as it relates to employment/labor, litigation, contracts, real estate/land use, and intellectual property matters.

Before joining Florida Poly, Landback was an associate attorney at one of Polk County’s oldest and most respected law firms, where he primarily practiced commercial and civil litigation. While at Straughn & Turner, he represented corporate clients, small businesses, non-profits, government agencies, and private individuals for a variety of legal matters.

Prior to entering private practice, Landback served as an assistant state attorney for the 10th Judicial Circuit in Bartow and Wauchula, Florida. In that role, he prosecuted misdemeanor and felony offenses on behalf of the State of Florida and the citizens of Polk and Highlands Counties.

Born and raised in Tampa, Landback earned his undergraduate and juris doctor degrees from the University of Florida (UF). Prior to law school, he taught English in Alexandria, Egypt, and later returned to work as an advisor for engineering and business students at the UF Career Resource Center. As a law student, he was an active competitor for UF’s Moot Court team and was awarded Best Oral Advocate at the Florida Bar’s 2011 Robert Orseck Memorial Moot Court Competition and at the 2012 Andrews Kurth Moot Court National Championship.
