About
Bill LePere is the law enforcement accreditation manager for the Florida Polytechnic University Police Department. He is a retired Assistant Chief of Police with 30 years of law enforcement service at the Lakeland Police Department, as well as a retired 9-1-1 Communications Center Manager with an additional six years of public safety service before joining Florida Poly PD. He began working at Florida Poly as a contractual employee in October 2018 and then moved to an OPS position in July 2019.
He previously served as the law enforcement accreditation manager at Lakeland PD and then as the public safety communications accreditation manager, successfully leading the agency to two distinct accreditation and reaccreditation awards.
While at Lakeland PD, Bill served in uniform patrol operations, special investigations and administrative support bureaus, and brings with him a diverse work experience in managing a large law enforcement agency along with knowledge of the accreditation process. He is recognized as an innovator of the community policing philosophy and operations throughout various neighborhoods in the city of Lakeland.
In addition to law enforcement experience, Bill was an adjunct instructor at the University of South Florida and Florida Southern College where he taught a Juvenile Delinquency course. He also taught community policing to police commanders in Central America through the U.S. Department of State and the Regional Community Policing Institute at St. Petersburg College.
