Officer Kirby Hrusovsky is a career law enforcement officer who knows the Lakeland community. He started his law enforcement career in February 1987 as a police officer in Rahway, New Jersey, where he worked patrol until October 1988. He then transferred to the Lakeland Police Department, after moving to Florida.
While at the Lakeland Police Department, he was patrol officer, economic crimes detective for seven years and a felony intake detective for 13 years. He also was a firearms instructor, a department armorer and a member of the honor guard.
Officer Hrusovsky retired from the Lakeland Police force in August 2013, then returned in December 2013 to work part time. He left the part-time post in December 2014 to take his position at Florida Polytechnic University.
