All,
After many months of working on plans and evaluating the COVID-19 environment, I’m excited to announce we will have an in-person commencement ceremony this semester. Many details are still in the works, but I am pleased to share that the ceremony will take place Sunday, May 2, at Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium (also known as Tiger Stadium in Lakeland). Graduates from fall 2019, all of 2020, and spring and summer 2021 are all invited to participate.
We want to thank the Board of Governors for providing guidance on our commencement planning. We’ll move forward very carefully to ensure we successfully celebrate our graduates while considering the environment in which we find ourselves. There are many important details still to come, so make sure to check your Florida Poly email, the commencement webpage, and the official University social media channels for updates.
Please share this great news with all new graduates and alumni who should be part of this special event. After the challenging year we’ve faced together, I can’t wait to honor the hard work of our graduates. It will be my privilege to see them receive the recognition they very much deserve.
Sincerely,
Randy
Every person attending commencement is expected to accept personal responsibility for their actions by following all current CDC recommendations and University policies and procedures. Guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) continues to emphasize that everyone must follow all steps to protect themselves and others from COVID-19 at all times. This includes proper use of face masks, social distancing, and personal hygiene. It is important to note that CDC guidance is based on what is currently known about COVID-19 and its variants.
