2026 Microtransit Innovation Challenge winners

This notice appeared in the Weekly Phoenix between May 4, 2026 and May 10, 2026.

The Microtransit Innovation Challenge is a campus-wide technical competition that invites students to design and implement solutions for real-time vehicle tracking and microtransit visualization.

This year, seven interdisciplinary student teams competed across three challenge areas:

  1. Hardware assembly for vehicle location tracking
  2. User interface (website) design
  3. Data management and system integration

Winners received prizes of $700 for first place, $200 for second place and $100 for third place.

  • Second Place: Team OmegaY – Alec Brenes
  • Third Place: Team Dumpling – Sirish Gurung
