April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month

This notice appeared in the Weekly Phoenix between April 14, 2020 and April 27, 2020.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) and nationally we are seeing a rise in domestic violence due to COVID-19 restrictions. Florida Polytechnic University is not tolerant of any form of sexual misconduct. Such behavior has no place in our working, living, and learning environment and is absolutely unacceptable. At Florida Poly are committed to preventing all forms of sexual misconduct and to supporting survivors. Creating a positive, healthy environment for our faculty, staff and students is our number one goal.

Everyone has a voice and it’s important to understand that it takes each person coming together to end sexual misconduct. We strongly encourage all members of the campus community to promptly report sexual misconduct to the Title IX Coordinator, Michelle Disson. Here is the Online Report Form.

As a reminder, there are resources available:

For Students:
– On-campus: Contact CARE Services to set up an appointment
– Off-campus: Contact Peace River Center

For Employees:
– Visit the Employee Assistance Program: E4 Health (New Direction).
– You can also contact Peace River Center.

Thank you for your commitment to our University and for standing up against Sexual Assault, especially during this time of awareness.

If you have any questions or would like further information, please feel free to contact Michelle Disson.
