The entire IST Commons area will be closed from Thursday, July 9, through Friday, July 24, to install new wood flooring.

Project Schedule

• July 9-10: Removal of existing flooring.
• July 13-24: Installation of new wood flooring. (Anticipated completion date is July 24)

What to Expect

Please be aware of the following temporary disruptions while work is underway.

• Full closure: The entire IST Commons area will be closed and inaccessible throughout demolition and installation.
• Alternative space: Students are encouraged to use the BARC Atrium as an alternative study and gathering space during the closure.
• Noise: Expect elevated noise levels from demolition and material cutting.
• Dust control: The contractor will continuously clean debris during demolition and perform a thorough cleanup upon completion. Dust generated from cutting flooring materials will be contained within a plastic-enclosed work area equipped with dust collection and vacuum systems.
• Odors: The polyurethane adhesive being used may temporarily produce a noticeable but mild odor in the area.
• Construction activity: Flooring installation will start from the center and progress outward.
