Mid-year changes to flexible spending account

This notice appeared in the Weekly Phoenix between April 28, 2020 and May 4, 2020.

Are you considering the possibility of making mid-year changes to your dependent care Flexible Spending Account (FSA) due to changes in your current circumstances?

The State Group Insurance Program allows for mid-year election changes to the Dependent Care FSA allocation if your child care situation has changed.

The State of Florida Benefit Plans allows for mid-year changes for the following reasons:

  • Reductions in childcare hours
  • Change in employment status for enrollee or spouse
  • Leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act
  • Change of cost from the provider
  • Change of provider resulting in a change of cost

If you are experiencing any of the above life events, you may decrease the amount of your annual contribution to no less than the amount you have already contributed to the account as of the date of the request. Please note you only have 60 days from the date of the event change to call the People First Service Center at 866-663-4735 to make an election change.

Additional updates will be made as they become available. For additional information, please email the Department of Human Resources or call 863-874-8426.
