April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and throughout the month, we will hold multiple events for the campus community. Sexual misconduct has no place in our working, living, and learning environment and is absolutely unacceptable. At Florida Poly, we are committed to preventing all forms of sexual misconduct and supporting survivors. Creating a positive, healthy environment for our faculty, staff, and students is our number one goal.
Everyone has a voice and it’s important to understand that it takes each person coming together to end sexual misconduct.
During this month, we want to show support for survivors and continue the conversation to end sexual violence. Please, take part in as many of these SAAM events that you can:
- Wednesday, April 5 from 11 a.m.-2:00 p.m. – Rise Up: SVP to host a tabling event about consent and sexual assault at the Wellness Center Patio
- Tuesday, April 11 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. – Rise Up: SVP to host a Sexual Violence Panel Discussion at ARC-1123
- Tuesday, April 18 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. – Rise Up: SVP and the Florida Poly Police Department will host Language Matters and Defense Training at ARC-1123
- Wednesday, April 26 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. – Denim Day at the Wellness Center Patio; wear your denim and enjoy rock painting with positive messages to support survivors of sexual assault.
We hope you can attend the events to show your support.
We strongly encourage all members of the campus community to promptly report sexual misconduct to Title IX Coordinator, Michelle Disson. You can also fill out this online report form.
