The Florida Polytechnic University Department of Applied Mathematics will host Sonia Kovalevsky Day (SK Day) on Saturday, April 11. The day will feature fun workshops, talks and hands-on activities for middle school students to explore exciting topics in mathematics.
If you have middle school-aged children who would like to participate, register them for this free and fun event! Registration closes on Wednesday, April 1.
Sonia Kovalevsky was a pioneer in mathematics. As the first woman to earn a Ph.D. in mathematics, she made significant contributions to her field. SK Day seeks to honor her legacy by promoting student engagement in math.

- What: Math workshops for middle school students
- Who: All middle school students (grades 6 – 8) are invited to participate
- When: Saturday, April 11, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
- Location: Florida Poly’s IST Building, 4700 Research Way
- Cost: Free. Lunch and all supplies will be provided.
