All students and faculty members are invited to attend a talk by Fulbright Senior Scholar Dr. Alex Frino about his fascinating research on the impact of cyberattacks on target companies. The talk will review the literature examining this topic before providing new estimates for a sample of firms and discussing the policy implications of his findings.

Frino will present his research and discuss his collaboration with Dr. Rei Sanchez-Arias and other researchers as part of his Fulbright award.

About Dr. Alex Frino

Dr. Alex Frino is a professor of economics and senior deputy vice chancellor at the University of Wollongong in Australia. He is also a 2022 recipient of a Senior Fulbright Scholar Award. Frino holds postgraduate degrees from Sydney University and Cambridge University. He has published over 100 papers in leading international refereed journals including the Journal of Finance, Journal of Banking and Finance, and Journal of Futures Markets. He previously was the chair of finance at the University of Sydney – where he spent more than two decades – and has held visiting positions at Georgetown University, Cambridge University in England, and Federico II in Italy. Frino has also held numerous industry positions including as senior economist at the Sydney Futures Exchange and later as visiting economist at the Australian Stock Exchange. Frino has won over $10 million in ARC funding and was the CEO of the Capital Markets Cooperative Research Centre from 2006 to 2012. He was ranked among the top 150 finance academics in the world in a leading U.S. survey of the productivity of finance academics in leading journals over a 50-year period. He is a two-time Fulbright Senior Scholar and was last year named the third most published researcher in the Journal of Futures Markets.
