Oct. 14-The Phoenix Talks: Women of 21st century in STEM

The Phoenix Talks is a series of workshops designed to have serious dialogue about a specific topic. There will be eight workshops all scheduled on Wednesdays from 7-8 p.m. in IST 1067-68.

On Wednesday, Oct. 14, we will have a panel discussion sponsored by SWE Club. The discussion will focus on women’s roles and expectations in STEM now, compared to 10 or 50 years ago. Additionally, we will discuss what women can do as individuals in STEM and our roles within our fields.

There will be the guests in the panel:

  • Tiffany Boyer (moderator), public affairs specialist at NASA
  • Phillipa Greenberg, Florida Polytechnic University Foundation Board member and founder of Next Machine firm
  • Michelle Powell, senior associate director of admissions and graduate student at Florida Poly
  • Ashton Olney, technology engineer 1 at FIS
  • Payton Barnwell, flight sciences specialist at Spaceship Company

This session will be virtual as well as in person.
