Updates to Computer Programming courses

This notice appeared in the Weekly Phoenix between October 28, 2019 and November 11, 2019.

As we continue to adjust the curriculum to better meet learning objectives and industry expectations, we have renumbered and retitled the two programming courses listed below.

  • COP 2272C – Computer Programming 1 is now COP 3337C – Object Oriented Programming
  • COP 3330C – Computer Programming 2 is now COP 3809C – Advanced Topics in Programming

If you started on an older catalog, you will not need to complete any paperwork for the new course number to count towards your graduation requirements and it will be reflected correctly on your degree audit. Students who have already successfully completed COP 2272C and/or COP 3330C are not required to take any action. Students who have not completed either of these courses should look for the new numbers and titles when using Schedule Wizard to create their Spring 2020 schedule.

An additional change to assist students with degree progression is the pre-requisite for COP 2271C.

  • COP 2271C – Introduction to Computation and Programming: Pre-requisite, effective immediately, is now MAC 2311 – Calculus 1 ORĀ IDS 1380 – Introduction to STEM.

If you have any questions regarding these changes, please contact the Registrar’s Office or stop by our office at IST 1052.
