Associate Director, Michelle Powell brings experience in teaching and in instructional media to her job at Florida Poly. Her role at Florida Poly is to meet, interview and recruit students in 15 counties in eastern Florida, stretching from Martin County to Nassau County. In 2015-16, she also is starting her graduate degree program at Florida Poly, working on her master’s degree in Engineering. Previously, she worked as a teacher at the Discovery Academy of Lake Alfred, where she was responsible for middle-school math instruction and maintaining student records. From 2013-14, Michelle Powell was an assistant in the Instructional Media Center at O’Fallon Township High School in Illinois. She was responsible for planning and executing programming that included “The World Series of Books Series,” “Blind Date with a Book,” and the “March Madness” book competition. She also taught middle school mathematics at Whiteside Middle School in Illinois from 2012-13.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from McKendree University in Illinois. She also has a secondary education certification. At McKendree, she was highly active in university activities, including:
